Yes, I know. The shield/drain scheme with the shield terminated at only one end, avoids ground currents circulating in the shield. It's a standard technique mis-characterised and mystified by the audiophiles. When I first heard the term "polarity" I could not imagine what they meant. Finally, I got my hands on a cable and discovered their innovation -- that I had also discovered while reading in my teens.
