Our experience with AT&T Uverse has been that whatever changes you make inside their gear, can go right down the drain at anytime. If they (AT&T) reset, reboot, push firmware, etc, settings go right back to default. To get a couple of years out of a system setup is what we would call rare.

Our potential clients are required to go with cable + modem of our choosing or they are not our clients.
