OK, tried all that, still no luck. Whenever I press the volume button on the remote, the 'TV' light on the remote illuminates. I tried the various things described in the user guide to which you referred me.

When I tried the step listed on page 3-15, 'determining the remote control device codes', it gave me a number of 087, i.e. one quick flash followed by 8 and then 7. That number doesn't match any of the TV numbers shown in the guide, they mostly start with a 5.

Entering 'menu' and then selecting 'Receiver remote volume control' also did not put volume control back on to the receiver.

I also tried 'PERFORMING THE REMOTE CONTROL DEVICE CODE SCAN' shown on page 3-15, I pressed the 'up' key at least 60 times but nothing happened.
