We just had a similar situation with a Pioneer Kuro. We had to use an analog to optical converter because the TV only outputs the internal tuner over the digital coax, it doesn't output devices connected via HDMI.
good point and if the OP needs onboard tuner output then the analog to toslink may be needed.....who ever said custom install will be all DIY in the future needs a few days in the field....always something....
