he should not based on the OP's description of what he is working with...coax or analog out to optical which is what the soundbar has for an input...something along the lines of what I had posted fits the technical requirements...but I would ASSume the POSSIBLE need for a bitstream signal would make a coax to optical a more appealing solution.
