Go to Rane.com and look up their essay on 70 volt systems.* It will answer questions you don't even know you have about both 8 ohm (a bit) and 70 volt (a lot more).
There are two genius solutions when using 70 volt systems: *the wire does not need to be heavy duty as with an 8 ohm speaker (or, to see it another way, the same wire can be used for a much longer run than with an 8 ohm speaker); and *there is very little difference between a 70 volt design with 4, 5, 7, 11, 22, or 50 speakers, while several of those are impossible to do with an 8 ohm design. And you can almost always add one more speaker to a 70 volt design. That's simply not possible with an 8 ohm design.
*I read it today on a break, and while I would have written it slightly differently, it covers the information well.

A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything. "The biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place." -- G. “Bernie” Shaw |
