Oh, yes I completely agree. Unfortunately, there are a lot of hacks out there selling both Crestron and C4. It can be difficult to really discern who is credible and you can trust, even for an enthusiast.
Ask the dealers if you can see some of their work. I have various clients who not only offer their words for reference, but offer to open their homes up for us to bring potential clients to. I know some other dealers have the similar situations with their clients. It can't hurt to ask the dealers. You will be spending good money with them and more importantly getting into a long term relationship with them. Good luck whichever way you go.
