what type of compression are we talking about here? How would you describe what to expect on the video side of things? It seems as we increase resolution compression becomes more and more important. especially for sources that already use higher levels of compression like cable and satellite.

Just like the 2G series, our 3G devices use Just Add Power's own proprietary encode/decode algorithm, they are not standards based (i.e. H.265 or other such fixed algorithms such as JPEG2000 which was used with our 1G devices). This gives us the freedom of improving the CODEC over time. More specifically, measuring our CODEC when used with something like the Sony 4K media player comes in at between 200mbps and 400mbps on the GB LAN (don't believe those folks who tell you that you need 10GB fiber switches to do 4K over IP!). While this is much higher than things like 4K Netflix (typically 25mbps), it is only a fraction of the bandwidth we have available on a GB Ethernet switch. With a simple free firmware update, we can take advantage of that remaining available bandwidth as our programming techniques keep being refined. Compared side-by-side to 2G, the 3G devices have overall better video quality, more features, and faster processing (i.e. lower latency). In either case 2G or 3G look much better than streaming 4K from Netflix or any other online source.

In other words, expect the best looking video experience with 3G, even better than our already critically acclaimed 2G devices. At the same time, it is easy to bridge 2G and 3G together on the same switch, using the same Just Add Power drivers, allowing you to enjoy everything everywhere.

If you can't make it to the CE/CI event for the first public demonstrations, come to CEDIA in Dallas and see for your self. We should also have 3G demo kits available for dealers before CEDIA. If you can't come to us, we'll ship evaluation samples to you.

Be sure to sign up with www.ultrahdip.com to register your interest and be one of the first to know when 3G starts shipping.
