That said, TiVo is basically just an interface. It doesn't provide the service, so comparing any service to TiVo is a little unfair.

I had DTV for many years before going to the TiVo combo, plus I deal with DTV on a regular basis with our clientele. I feel my comparisons are very fair.

If DTV did not get you for paying for the DVR service on top of the TiVo charges to me it would be a no brainer using TiVo. But I do not feel it is worth the extra $20 a month with the amount of TV I really watch.
