I love those people. A landscape lighting guy I work with on occasion brought me in on a project. A very well known and now retired NHL goaltender. I never actualy dealt with Goalie just the project manager and his hot bitchy trophy wife. This was back before I had learned, actualy no this is what taught me, to charge for design and get something up front for equipment.

I did the design and submitted my proposal. I was being considered along with a couple of other CIs and the fellow tells me in a very uppity tone that doing business with Goalie is something that will be very good for me and that I shouldn't make too much on the job because the pay off will really come in the referrals in his circle of wealthy friends and neighbours.

The rest is a long story but I wound up firing them and losing I can't rememebr how much, a couple grand anyway, but enough to keep me pissed off about it.
