The fact he forgets he can use the iPad aside, the problems he is having is kinda like what he describes as "the lemon law", is it not? Is that common with Savant or just something wonky going on in his system?

Savant's first version of their SUR500 remotes where horrible. They recently released the SUR500-1 remote that is much better. They would lose connection to the processor and the battery would last less than a day with little use. Then it would take 15 mins before it would have enough battery life to be usable. Imagine waking up and trying to turn your TV off and the batteries have died in the meantime. It was recommended to have an iPad at the bedside from the beginning but that wasn't followed.

Onsite, we have Ruckus which is known to be an issue with those remotes but we made the recommended changes so it should be good. Plus we even created a separate SSID for just the remotes. The system as a whole has had an uptime of more than a year. So regarding Savant, it's been very stable!

An Apple based platform with it's first Android OS is a recipe for problems.
