Macbook Air is not Macbook Pro. But hey, my 1985 IBM PCjr doesn't work either as long as we're comparing different hardware.

I have 2 different Mac Laptops that will not pass through the front HDMI input of an AVR2312. The OP's description is exactly my experience. Maybe I'm just stupid.

It's an EDID issue with the laptop's HDMI output. It's a relay device.
