Well, we defeated the British Empire on two occasions, saved the world twice from the Germans, created a nation where people risk life and limb to get to for a chance to build a better life, spent the Soviets into collapse, give away in foreign aid more than some first world nations' GDP, created a system that allows people on complete opposite sides of the world to argue over what's the best flavor of ice cream, and gave the world Velcro.
So yeah, we might wave our flag every now and then.
