Dear all:

First post with lots of questions. Whilst not a complete novice in terms of electronics and setup of a variety of systems, I am new to remotes etc. Anyhow, on with the questions (based in UK just haven't updated bio).

I got a good deal on a Marantz RC9500 (well don't know if it is great - bought it as not working for 15 quid and it just needed battery replacing and drivers installing etc, don't know how much it is worth now, guessing not much but more than 20 quid after "repairing" it.

Anyway downloaded instructions from the net and managed to locate a driver on this site. Didn't work first off as I am running Vista but got it working in compatibility mode and now all is good.

Anyway when I reset to default the remote re-installed a load of Marantz codes that are irrelevant to me, I don't own Marantz equipment. I deleted all of these.
Now I have managed to get my TV and laserdisc player/stereo stack to work by using/adapting a template for a Marantz amp/tv and renaming it but I don't want to do this and can't anymore because I have deleted them off.

Could someone please explain to me how you start from scratch in this regard? I have managed to work out that you need to link and/or jump so that the buttons correspond with an action but I cannot seem to get the button on the home screen to not be greyed out so I am assuming it is not linked properly.

What I would like to do is essentially make a blank profile, call it NEC Projector, make some buttons and map the codes to it using the learn function. I know I can do this but am missing something along the way.

Any help would really be appreciated.

Thanks

Graham
