Joking aside, most vendors at CEDIA have taken steps to "clean up" their acts. "We" as an industry are trying to gain public acceptance as a real "Profession" and also pull more women into our ranks. The only way we can do this is to not act like teenagers on our first date with a "sure thing" (yeah like that really happens).
At this point many of us are older and married so our priorities and activities have changed for the less puerile (our enjoyment of Jeremy Clarkson not withstanding) and we (sometimes) do think about how our actions effect our business and lives.
Ethereal is a prime example of this change, at the beginning there were only 3 of us, our "Fearless Leader", myself and an Admin Assistant. Now that "AA" is in charge and we have a sales/support staff of 14.5 people, 8 of them being female.
Our Natl. Sales mgr. (Miranda) is only 25 and has already made a strong impact with our dealers because of her ability to share information and get problems resolved.
The lead tech for our Spyclops Video Surveillance line (Deanna) is also very good at talking dealers off of the "Network fear" ledge and making systems work.
The world is changing (at least at Ethereal) for the better, it is time for the industry as a whole to reflect the impact and reality of women in our workforce.
