I had to program an old vizio recently. For inputs I used a different input as an anchor and then then added the input command to toggle through.
For example, for hdmi 2, it looked like this:

Hdmi
Hdmi
This worked well. I'd recommend a basestation to ensure the codes get to the tv correctly. Programming time was minimal.
