Since integration is their bread and butter, I don't think they'd be too keen on giving that up no matter how adventurous the DIY market feels about it.
Forget about URC, get some JP1 remotes and tweak to your heart's content. Even though Xsight doesn't do state tracking, a dozen other models do. And you can buy 20 of them for the price of one URC.
