OK guys, here comes my little xmas treat. It will allow you to control any RTi system with any browser. This removes the absurd necessity to buy a license for each and everyone of the dozen smartphones, iPads, iPhones, laptops, androids, etc. present in any average household – thereby restoring some sanity to the process of switching on the TV and so on.

The files needed on the web server are:
  • Index.html
  • Film.css
  • SendUDP.php
  • jquery-1.7.1.js
The PHP sends a UDP string to the RTi server (in this case with IP address 10.10.10.61 and port 5002, but it can be adjusted to any appropriate value). Then the RTi just needs to pick up the UDP string and trigger a macro.

I have tested the script on a windows-based web server (IIS), and on an Arch Linux server (Nginx + php-fpm). It works nicely on either platform.

And here is the link to all files, nicely arranged in the appropriate subdirectory tree:

Feel free to use, modify, and distribute as you see fit. I would be pleased if this is found to be useful by anybody, and maybe somebody feels like improving on it.
