Ok, maybe I'm misunderstanding, or not understanding ARC since I've never actually used it. How can you feed sources to the tv, and then feed audio to the soundbar for those sources via ARC to the soundbar, which would require changing the input on the tv to the hdmi port connected to the soundbar.
Unless I am misunderstanding something here, I think your best option is running your sources through the soundbar. I believe that Sony has 3 HDMI inputs.

I have all of the sources running via HDMI to the TV inputs. And since the ARC HDMI is plugged into the TV AND SOUNDBAR that it simply passes the sound to the soundbar. I have no sound coming out of the TV...its all the soundbar/sub.
There is a specific HDMI port for ARC. Then I simply use the leftover HDMI ports for each of the sources (DVR, BD). So, there is not input switching aside from source. It only uses the ARC hdmi for sound and passes it to the soundbar regardless of which inputs are sending sound.
