I installed several LG sets the other day using serial control. They were 32LY340C TVs if IIRC the model number. I like the panels quite a bit. If you choose this route (codes are generally in the back of the manual but here are a few):

OFF string is: ka 01 00\r
ON string is: ka 01 01\r

Since input changes can wreak havoc in many cases I recommend you also send the input command you need.

Component1 string is: kb 01 04\r
HDMI1 string is: kb 01 90\r
HDMI2 string is: kb 01 91\r
