Been a while since I have done an MX900. Had to make a few minor changes to an existing, 2 year old system yesterday.

Made changes, go to load remote. "SC-1, unable to communicate with remote"

Did all the usual checking of USB connections, remote makes little "I am connected sound", will not communicate.

Remote doesn't even show up in device manager as being connected.
Figuring his battered remote may have a bad USB port, I tell him I am gonna check a few things but worst case scenario, his remote may need to be replaced. Still works but shows signs of being dropped and general hard use.

Get home, try same process on one of my personal MX900s. Same result. Try one of my other ones, different USB cable different ports, same deal. Even tested my USB ports using several different (non remote) devices. All were recognized without issue, even my hoary old USB/Serial adapter.

Downloaded the stand alone editor, still no com.

Dammit!

I am using a newer macbook pro with Windows 7 pro using VMWare Fusion. I did change from Parallels to just using bootcamp before VMWare. I did program quite a few URC remotes using both of the first two flavors of virtual machines without many issues.

A call to URC tech support yielded no help. Learned a while ago not to tell them I am using a Mac.
The change in VM software seems to be what did it. Question is, how do I fix it?
I am a trained professional..... Do not attempt this stunt at home.
