Wow, I sure do appreciate all of the effort you are putting in to help me out.
I was able to download the PJSerial from the biggerhammer link. With it I was able to control discreet input selection, but none of the PJs listed would work for power on - off. Then my luck changed, and a good thing too, I was about ready to hang myself with the serial cable when I just sort of stumbled on the solution.
After taking a deep breath and counting to ten, I started playing with different one-way IR serial drivers, thinking that I could use rs232 for input selection, and the IR serial/control S for power control. After trying out all of the drivers for Sony PJs in the database (16.4.0) I stumbled onto the VPL-X2000U IR driver. I was thrilled that now I could control power, and then I noticed there were discrete inputs as well, and they worked too! So for now I have had my fill of rs232 with PJs. The Sony protocol manual does make a terrific disposable fly swatter.
Thanks for all of your help!
