Not sure what difference it makes that you are a programmer. RTI has a pretty good following and some excellent programmers that are dealers. The problem is not trying to create a search and replace for RS-232, it's trying to keep ID's framework, compatibility across product lines, and the ability to support past systems. There is an engineering issue that makes implementing this AND keeping the above intact. There is always a sacrifice for having one piece of software that is compatible with every product (past and present) and can accommodate system files from 10-12+ years ago...
