I got that, too.

This is where it starts to get strange. I didn't do a thing with the window, and after it popped up a couple of times, there was a check mark at the bottom left saying "connected." Looking at it again, I probably clicked "Connect without setting up your device."

Lucky you. It stops what I'm doing. I often look at the keyboard when typing, and as soon as the window pops up, my keystrokes have no effect. So every time I have to minimize or kill the window, then work out where I was. Irritating and unnecessary.

When programming CCP, my keyboard use is at a very minimum. Room name, device name, remote, and RF names. And by the time I get to download, I don't need a keyboard. What am I missing?

My computer sound is off so that's no problem. Sound only wouldn't be a problem anyway. In fact, the remote makes a kind of stuttering buzz -- that's not from the computer.

Interesting. Braden says you have to use it... but it seems "use it" means one time click on Connectwithoutsettingup, then repeatedlyeternally minimize the window.

You Need WMDC for the 980 to work, yes, but as a user, you don't have to interact with WMDC. That is what I meant. Just like I need keys to turn on my car, but I don't need to interact with those keys after.

I don't know who you are, but I cannot ignore something that comes up on top when I'm typing and stops keyboard input. Time after time it gets irritating. And you obviously are not noticing that I'm saying that, because you describe it as "a quick beep," when I've said more than once that A WINDOW COMES UP. I guess maybe this is the first time I've said it stops whatever I'm doing until I minimize it, but it AIN'T JUST A BEEP. IT'S THE BRAKES FULL ON.

I've been in custom for over a decade. Our work environments are hot, cramped, tiny, crowded, loud, dirty, dusty, etc. I've got to climb out of an attic then go into to programming mode. Who am I? I am the guy with goals, passions, and dreams that isn't going to let a little thing like a keyboard beep, a pop up windows, a cramped closet, a poorly designed job, or a lung full of insulation prevent me from chasing them. I guess I wasn't born with a silver spoon in my mouth, and I haven't reached the level of true programmer where I just wheel a laptop bag around and don't get my hands dirty.

Curious: how do you do in a non-sterile environment where you have to work and program?
Just fine. I did a trip out of the country for five weeks where only the six to nine of us actually spoke English; there was actual speaking in another language plus dealing with Pidgin English, and the most fun times were when six things were happening at the same time. Here the problem is that I'm trying to do one thing and I keep getting interrupted.

First world problems. Wow.

My last training was with Braden, and it was more than a year ago. And this is, truth be told, the first URC I've sold since then, which explains some of the problems. However, that class ended with "so we didn't cover everything but you get the basic idea."

I'm sure the first half of the class was a sales pitch. They usually are. I do prefer Hank's line of teaching. I don't have much room for the young, brash boldness (arrogance) of your trainer. First trainer I've met who has to show off his skills and brag. I do not wish to speak badly of someone, understand that. I do miss the mature, civilized, confident respectfulness I've found in the older generation of |_|RC Trainers.

It's my name, lower case, no space.

And after all this, you're probably not interested in the fact that I could not work the Universal Browser today -- I needed the first 8 Denon Tuner preset commands. I created a .ccf from the previous remote here; it would not populate the Panel View; I tried learning, actually following the instructions in the MX980 and MX-890 manuals, and things didn't work right ("Save" never appeared on my screen). I finally tried one Denon file after another until I found the commands I needed.

So it works and it's a beautiful thing. But WOW what a pain getting here!

It's probably because the only other posts like yours are right after someone posted "Can I get xxxx software" and then a bunch of questions on how to use it.
