I'd just replace the bulb on this WD-73727 because there's no picture; on powering up the LAMP light comes on red after a minute or two, then the set powers down some time after.
This can be caused by a bad lamp ballast.
The reason I don't just want to replace the bulb is that the image turned greenish , and purplish, got better, colored up again, and THEN the image died permanently. Does this sound like a bulb going bad?
This is most likely coming from a bad color wheel.
Pushing the front panel SYSTEM RESET button makes the green PWR LED blink... then the red LAMP light comes on and the TV shuts off after a while.
Here again, it could be the lamp ballast.
Generally you can hear the lamp ballast as it winds up to send power to the bulb. Listen closely, it's VERY hard to hear.
Thanks for any input.
That's my input for what it's worth.
