The reason I ask, is we went out to do a condo that was "pre-wired" for speakers all over. No map of course, couldn't contact the guys that did it, and the customer gave us some faulty info on locations...

Amazingly, we will only need to have one small drywall patch, but it could have been pretty ugly, especially if we'd sent out a "Jr." installer.

Just want to put together an agreement that lets the client know the risks of searching for and cutting in speakers without any documentation or drawings. It was a bitch locating the speakers with my toner, because the place used cheap light dimmers in each room, and they give off a lot of noise... was almost impossible to hear my toner through all of that.

Thankfully, though things turned out very well!

You don't ground one lead of the tone generator? Even if the wires are hidden, grounding one end makes it sing like a canary.
My mechanic told me, "I couldn't repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder."
