I get the impression the brand new screens are good again.

I also get the impression that at the time the so-called "bad" screens were being made, they were also using screens from multiple sources at the same time. Thus, knowing when it was made isn't going to tell you whether it was "good" or "bad" - it was just the luck of the draw.
