Out of pure curiosity, I tried the Roomie remote app for iPhone. All of my equipment supports IP control, so I knew I could try it out without having to buy any actual equipment.

It is definitely lacking some features for it to compete with the professional solutions, but there are also some things that I really wish the big players would incorporate. The app includes a great built-in "guide" powered by Rovi. The guide can directly control the DirecTV and even pulls up episode info with cover art, which simply looks beautiful.

Why can a cheap iPhone app have such a great feature but our pro solutions are left behind when it comes to this?
