Is the power cord on the back of XBox not removable?
I can see if the brick had capacitors that kept something small powered with trickle current like battery or RAM, but it makes no sense if it's the standard +/- 3.5mm or similar plug.
With a lot of electronics, once you kill the power, manual will ask to press power button or random buttons on remotes to drain residual charge.
