I am setting up an MRX-2 with the CC Control Android app, and ran into a little glitch trying to activate the software key on the MRX-2. I figured out how to fix it, so I thought I would post this note in case anyone else runs into this problem.

I entered the key in the Home properties, and pressed Activate. This brought up a screen that warned me I could only do this once, and asked for the key again. When I clicked OK (and maybe got one more warning about being only able to use the key one, I forget), I got an error dialog with the message "MS XML may not be installed.".

Uh-oh, I sure hope that did not eat the key and do nothing! A search for the message lead to nothing much useful, except for a page on Microsoft.com to download MSXML 4.0 Service Pack 2. [Link: microsoft.com]

So I decided to take the error message at face value and downloaded and installed MSXML 4.0. I don't know why I did not already have it. When I upgraded CCP and it added the upgrades for Androids, it really should have installed this if it needed it.

Anyway, I tried activating the key again. It worked this time, and fortunately had not burned the key during the failed activation.

So, if you are working with the Android app for the first time, you may want to check if you have MSXML (you can look in Control Panel | Programs), and install it yourself if you do not.
