Ok...that part makes sense since it's a different app. But even with the in app purchase, it will still authenticate the existing purchase up to 5 like devices? This is really not clear in the documentation....spent an hour looking for that info before I posted.

I'd test myself, but I only have one iPhone and one iPad.
