I ran into this problem with an MX900 and a (newer) 880. Both kept freezing at certain points in the download process.

That's really tough, as the 6000 came out in 2008. At this point, it is at least a 5 year old remote. I can send you a legit 6000 file I programmed if you need something new to try and dump into it. Maybe that will tell you if it is the remote or not. My guess based on age: hope wifi works and start looking for a replacement.
