First, it might not work for the reasons given in Post 3.

Second, see if you have an IR sensor on hand. The camera on a cell phone will often see IR as white, so point an audio/video remote at your cell phone's camera and see if the IR shows up. That helps you see what's happening here.

When it works, it's like this:
The PowerMid has two parts. As it's designed, one part senses a factory remote's IR (of audio components, for instance) and transmits RF. The second part receives the PowerMid's RF and converts it to IR. We're going to use this backwards.

Set up the second part to receive the RF from the RF remote that you want to replicate with the Pronto. Check with your cell phone camera to see if the camera sees IR when you push the button on your RF remote. If you do, then this just might work. If you don't, it still might work.

Put the Pronto where it will see IR from the PowerMid. Push an RF button while the Pronto is in the learn mode. If the Pronto learns a command, try it out to see if the Pronto now controls your RF device.

After researching this, I tried this a few years ago. I still have the PowerMid that would not work using this method....
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.
