The 8 step 961 procedure turns the RF on and marries it to the receiver that is already in RF mode. You may not think its in RF mode, or want it in RF mode, but it is in RF mode.


Go into the receiver's menu:

1.menu> setup> settings> remote> IR/Rf>
2. you will see IR or RF, click whichever to reveal both
3. chose IR
4. Done

Now restore directv remote to IR:

1. dtv
2. press and hold MUTE & SELECT, wait for two blinks, release
3. enter 0 0 0 0 1

Directv remote should work, and RF20 using code 173 as well.
