Mine has the opposite problem. The cable is so loose I have to set the remote down and slide it against something to hold the connector in tight enough. I do have a bunch of these cables. Maybe I should go through them and find one it likes better.

If different cables fit differently, then is it the connector on the 980 or the cables? Maybe the "standard" for those connectors is not strict enough? I have no idea, but I *will* be checking several cables and I'll mark one for the 980 if it comes down to that.
