Ah, so that is the source of my confusion.

The MRX2 product page indicates it is both a "Complete Control" and "Total Control" product. Here is the system I'm hoping to design, tell me if this is viable:

Home Theater:
(3 RS232 devices, 1 IP device, 4 IR devices)
- MRX-10 controller
- TCR-1080 remote

Family Room:
(1 IP device, 4 IR devices)
- MRX-2 controller
- TRC-1080 remote
- Need to also be able to control one device located in Home Theater

With iPad/Android app solutions that can drive either room. It would seem odd that the apps couldn't communicate with a controller as powerful as the MRX-10, especially if a MRX-2 is also connected on the same network...

Thoughts? Thanks!

that system will work fine and you will be able to control it with the ipad app, and the android app once it is available for Total Control.

the MRX10 is the brain of the Total Control system.  All the programming resides in it.  The MRX2 is a secondary device that gets its instructions from the MRX10, that is why the MRX10 needs to be in the system.

The MRX2 can be used in a Complete Control system, but that is a completely different animal (pun not intended).
