The MX-900 has been an essential part of my home av system
since 2007. Its versatility and programmability means that I need
no other remote in a system with a tv,pvr, dvd, xbox, vcr, tuner.
My installer kindly provided the editor software and I made
occasional minor tweaks to his 4/2007 mxg file, but none since
2007. Today I made a simple change, just creating one device
in anticipation of new hardware coming next week.

Afterward I was surprised by symptoms like
1) The ON button turns on the TV immediately, but the
second of the two macro commands is delayed by about 20
seconds, while "macro" flashes. The OFF button behaves similarly.
2) The left/right buttons seem to "bounce." One push gives
between 2 and 10 rapid repeats
3) Fairly often buttons don't respond at all.

I replaced the batteries, did a factory reset with disk format, reloaded the installer's mxg file. The symptoms remain.

It seems like aging hardware, but I don't understand why
it would happen just after downloading a new mxg file.

If there is anything I can do about it before going to my dealer
dealer, I would be grateful to hear about it.

Thanks, Jim

I am using the same versions I used in 2007:
Editor 1.10.101
Firmware 1.43
IR DB 1.79
The MX-900 was replaced once, I think in about 2009.
