Hi,

I have had a MX 880 for just over 3 years. I have the remote to control the home theater in the basement, so it hasnt been used excesively, maybe a couple of times a month or less.

This month I noticed that the battery would not hold a charge so I thought the battery was dead. I replaced it and same problem, the remote would be dead the next day. I charged it and had it on a table close to me to and noticed that the LCD and backlight would come one and the backlight would flash several times. After this any button press would not be recognized by the remote. After a while (sometimes minutes or sometimes hours) it would start recognizing inputs. This would happen every few minutes. I reset the remote and re-loaded my files. Still same problem. Has anyone had anything similar? Any ideas how to solve? I tried to disable the pick up sensor but that didnt help.

I called URC and they claim they do not repair remotes and all they can do since I'm out of warranty is sell me another MX 880 for 30% off retail. I personally think this is ridiculous given I spent 499 on the remote about 3 years ago! I recall reading on the forum that URC repaired remotes. Is it true they dont repair remotes any more? If this is the case I might have to think about just changing the system, this kind of customer service is terrible for a high end product.

Thanks for your help,
Frustrated customer.
