So I'm venturing into RS232 control after years of just doing plain old IR control.

First project will be a system including an Aventage RX-A2020 and BD-A1020. I've found plenty of info to get me started on controlling the receiver via RS232, but haven't found much on the bluray player.

I know that IP control is possible (at least with the receiver), but I'm not interested in going that route just yet.

The questions I have now are:

1) Does the BD-A1020 need a null modem adapter when using 232 out of a XP6 processor? I know the receiver needs it, not sure about the BD?

2) I'm planning on 1-way RS232 with the Bluray player, but out of curiousity can you do 2-way with the BD-A1020? If so, what does it give you?

3) The RTI master232 library has pre-defined RS232 codes for a Yamaha BD-S2900 Bluray player. Will these same codes work with the BD-A1020?

4) Any other recommendations or gotcha's that would be helpful to know?

TIA,
