I have a Logitech Harmony based system and an Ayre K-5xe preamplifier. The preamplifier has programmed the individual components (input 1, 2, 3, 4) with RC-5 codes but does not provide a remote capable of controlling these.

I do have the RC-5 codes and have the Makehex for them.

I can spend $39 for "extended support" for my under 6 month old Logitech Harmony to add the codes to their incomplete database. That disgusts me. Plus, I don't trust them to make it work.

So I'd rather buy another remote and teach the codes to the Harmony directly. I tried an L5 Ir remote for my iPhone, but that doesn't seem to work at all. Maybe its defective or abandonware. Judging from the posts on their site, it seems like that could be the case.

Is there an inexpensive remote out there that supports RC-5 codes (device code is 16)? Perhaps there are other devices out there that use those codes that might be in another one of my remotes like my comcast remote or maybe already even in the Harmony database? Or alternatively another remote that could handle the Pronto hex codes. Those sound expensive.

Ideas welcome.
