I am looking for work in the San Diego area. I currently work in the commercial theater (movie theater type projectors) industry but want to get (officially) into home theater and automation.
I have no certifications but I am begging for help getting them. I am extremely capable of getting any/all certifications in this industry. I understand RTI/Crestron etc. programming but due to VERY limited access without working for a company I can only go so far. They all require membership to take courses etc. it seems. RS232, IR, Macros etc. are all cake to me. Its just transferring it into Crestron, RTI, control4 etc.
How can I get into this industry? I have a huge passion for it and I have for many years. I have installed 10+ dedicated home theaters freelance but obviously none with the "big" name equipment since I must become a certified seller/installer etc. How do I do that?
I want a job with someone who will take my desire to become the best possible installer/designer very seriously. Any help? Pointers? Anyone out there with a basic installer job willing to talk to me?
