I don't think that will work. We always had to use a 12v wall wart plugged into the switched outlet on the back. All the Motorola cable boxes here still have signal on the composite and green component when off.
yep, i haven't had luck with cable boxes either. they usually have some type of signal on the analog outputs, even when the box is off. i have heard of people using a resistor inline on the video sensor to drop the voltage of the signal and making it work that way.
