They may have changed something in the newer MX-850's. I was helping a friend replace an 850 that wasn't working anymore with a new one. Was able to communicate fine with several older 850's using the non-installer version of the software but it would not communicate with the new remote. Had to use the installer version of the software to communicate with the new remote.
