Gigaware is the radioshack adaptor. They changed it from beige to black and named it gigaware to make it sound fancy :).

The IOGear adaptor has worked for me on windows ME, 2000, XP and Vista. I have never had to install or update a driver. Windows always recognizes it. The only problem with it is that you need to get a serial extension cable with it because of the screw terminals on it. With most DB-9 stuff you can remove the screws but these do not come loose. It makes it impossible to connect it to a processor or security panel etc. Its not a big deal because its only a foot long and an extension cable isnt a bad idea anyway.
