have you tried to use a regular emitter on the front of the denon? maybe something is messed up with the rear ir port.
I was thinking this too, but he did say he used the blaster. Obviously that is not as reliable, but should work if placed properly. I think the real fix starts with a Y and ends in a A ;-)
