Do you mean the main Genie receiver or the smaller clients. The Genie is an HR-34 and is ir and rf. the last DirecTV roadshow that I went to said that the clients were RF ONLY. I have my first Genie and client install scheduled tomorrow so will give you more details then.

Client is IR controllable for sure, did it yesterday. It also has a USB port so I'm hoping it takes RS232 as well. Didn't try that yet.
