Rti is definitely the most under rated control company in my mind. They have one of the most powerful abd capable systems on the market, and if you are smart enough to know how to write drivers you truly can say you can integrate with virtually anything that crestron or the big names can.

But to me they have a lot on crestron. Ive done low level crestron and certainly am no expert on its programming, but ive seen enough big crestron dealers dump 100s of hours into a crestron program to make a system that isnt as stable, is more complex and doesnt look as nice as an rti system i programmed of the same size and abilities in only 2-3 days.

My company also does security, we have a builder who brings us in to do cameras and an hai alarm, for av they use one of the biggest crestron dealers in the country. So one day i asked why they only use rs232 for the hai and not ip like rti. He went on to explain (this is the shorthand explination) that crestron doesnt have ip control as a native feature like rti does. It is way more complex then rs232 or ir even in crestron terms.

To me thats crazy. They are the company that supposedly sets the standard for control companies, yet because the keep building onto the same old platform every new feature is another work around or fitting a square peg in a round whole. the only benefit to it is you can take a 20 year old system, add the newest crestron keypad onthe market and they are compatible.

If rti could market better and dealers who use it push it to its linits and do the huge jobs its capable of i think they could become one of the big players over the next 5-10 years.

They also need to step up their game on putting new products to market.
