I can say I have given very little real effort but how long does it take to crank out super basic systems comfortably?

Super basic- QMRMC with ipad control

The most I would even program would be MLX3, MC3, and a light switch or two.

How long should it take if I dedicated a few hours a week just to programming. Have all the gear at home. I am doing everything I can to stick with Crestron only for mid-grade plus systems but I am back to weighing my RTI (programmend in-house) vs. Crestron options.

Just an FYI but I am not a fan of SB at all so don't want to look at it as an option? I have taken just the essentials but need to retake it of course.

It will depend on your aptitude and the time you have to dedicate to learning Simpl. Honestly, if you are only doing basic systems then SB is the best route. It tends to take awhile to understand the backend but once you get it; it doesn't take too much time to program up a small system
