On further investigation, the Smart Touch Control instructions talk about "pairing" so I presume it's talking bluetooth (except for the Power toggle). Samsung seem to have quite a nice system with the Smart Touch Control controlling up to 3 devices: TV, STB and BD. If the devices are Samsung then it just works, if not then there is an "IR Blaster" which converts the bluetooth signals to the appropriate IR codes. Whether this means I can retire my aged Pronto remains to be seen - I suspect not!
