Here's an update for anyone that may be able to advise further.

I'm managing to make the RC9500 work by RF if I'm in the same room and close (1-2m) to the receiver (Philips LI910), but not thru a wall. My RU950 continues to work fine.

Could this be some kind of side-band effect, given that my RC9500 may well be running at 418 MHz.

Or maybe I have a 434 MHz model, but the ouput power from the RC9500 is v. low for some reason (transmitter arial broken off?).

I'm wondering if I can confirm the RF carrier frequency by connecting the jack plug from the RF receiver to a scope or multimeter with frequency measurement capability?

Now that I've seen how good the display on the colour NGs can be, I really can't go back to the b&w version.
